Kung Fu Clothing – Style and Practical Appliance is Essential

Kung Fu clothing can be readily obtained through many retail outlets or through online stores but it is wise to double check that the style of clothes are compatible with the chosen style of Kung Fu. Kung Fu clothing may be synonymous to most people with memories of the film star Bruce Lee, whose power and technique appeared to be accelerated on the silver screen by the dramatic look of the black suit. Many modern day students are still motivated to learn martial arts simply through the recorded skills and techniques of Bruce Lee throughout his popular films and of course those of the other top Martial Arts stars, and this drives many to begin training in earnest. Researching for the most relevant and traditional Kung Fu clothing should start prior to actually joining a local club once the martial art style itself has been chosen as a myriad of styles and materials can be found.

Although the style of the suit is paramount to most people, students need to do much more interactive research prior to purchase to ensure that they have found the best suit for them. Suits are not an inexpensive item, so it is worth taking a little bit of time to ensure all the facts are to hand. Kung Fu clothing is all about comfort and practicality and not simply ‘what looks good’.

Existing students can be advised by their instructors and fellow martial arts enthusiasts and certainly, this will help when finding a retail outlet or local supplier. Kung Fu is all about fast, flowing movements and so all clothes must enhance this sense of freedom to allow the student to progress with the relevant techniques and set moves. Flexibility is essential to an ardent enthusiast and it would be a frustrating factor indeed if the cloth hindered or restricted movement to any degree. A Kung Fu suit can be made out of silk or cotton for example but must be resilient as although many strikes and kicks are semi-contact, the student will require a suit that is durable for some time to come.

Martial arts clothes can include:

o T-shirts
o Shoes
o Jackets
o Slippers
o Belts
o Jewellery

Remember that to become a valid part of any traditional martial arts club, it is not essential to go overboard with purchases of Kung Fu clothing for the sake of it. Whilst it is possible to shop around to get a good purchase price, it is more relevant to simply choose the most essential items i.e. the suit and then any other purchases are ‘nice to haves’ and can come later. Purchasing the relevant item however can have wonderful psychological benefits on the student because they immediately become a stronger and more dedicated member of the club, forging bonds with the other students and have a stronger yearning to learn. Suits come in the traditional black or white but always remember practicality is the first aim, research and taking time to choose will ensure that your chosen item of Kung Fu clothing will endure as your training and expertise progresses.
